About John Mahoney
John J. Mahoney proudly serves the Thirteenth Worcester District as your State Representative. A lifelong resident of Worcester, joined by his wife Erin and their four children, John was first elected to office in 2010.
Prior to elected office, John attended Bryant College and was a small business owner. As a small business owner, John knows the challenge of working hard to support a family and what it’s like to pay employees, pay taxes, and serve the public.
Throughout his time in office, John has focused on listening and responding directly to the residents of Worcester and the Commonwealth. He has been a leading voice and longstanding advocate for providing a first class education system. He has also proudly co-sponsored and worked extensively on bills to protect our environment, reduce gun violence, help our homeless, and help those struggling with substance abuse. While serving as the Vice Chairman of Transportation during his second term in office, he worked on a major piece of legislation to improve and ensure Massachusetts has an efficient and fully functional transportation system. The bill was passed overwhelmingly by the legislature and signed by the Governor in 2014. At the start of his third term in office John was appointed as the House Chairman for the Joint Committee on Election Laws. He is a firm believer in voting rights, fair elections, and keeping dark money out of politics.
In 2019, John was appointed House Chairman of the Joint Committee on Public Health, where he currently serves.
John continues to lead and work every day, so that Worcester is a social and economic leader in our Commonwealth.
