On Wednesday, February 14, the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) announced that it was accepting Doherty High School into their feasibility study period. In doing so, the MSBA has indicated that Doherty High can expect major renovations, if not total replacement in the near future. This critical, year-long period will study the needs of the school and the city to determine which solution is most appropriate.
Representative Mahoney has worked closely with Treasurer Goldberg and the MSBA for the past several years on advancing the process to build a new Doherty High School.
“Building a new Doherty has been a priority of mine since my first day in office, and I’m pleased to see this process move forward due to the hard work from so many of us. The new Nelson Place wasn’t built in one day, so let’s keep working on making a new Doherty a reality to ensure that future students will receive an education in a facility to match the first class academics our city has to offer.”
