Signifying the commitment that the House has to our Commonwealth’s education system, I was pleased to see that Education and Unrestricted General Government Aid was increased $159 million above the FY2016 budget. Notably, this includes an increase of $55 in per pupil aid, which is more than double the guarantee from FY2016.
The announcement that General Electric will be moving its headquarters to Boston marks a great victory for the state of Massachusetts. We will now be home to a multinational and multibillion dollar conglomerate with world leading technology divisions in transportation, energy management, aviation, pharmaceuticals, software development, health care and engineering.
GE is a great addition to our Commonwealth and there’s no question that this will contribute to Massachusetts’ leadership in an ever expanding global economy. Becoming the home to a world leader in transportation, energy management, healthcare, and engineering is no small feat.
